CIFT has an exciting opportunity to come alongside Solidarity, a Christian non-profit organization with a heart for the Latino community. Solidarity operates in two Latino, Immigrant communities in Fullerton, CA.
The Garnet neighborhood is predominantly a first generation community and home to new families or individuals migrating from Mexico and other Central and South American countries. The Maple neighborhood is a more established, multi-generational community with family ties going back decades. Both of these vibrant areas are marked by cultural beauty and resiliency. Both are under resourced neighborhoods whose residents have experienced racially exclusive measures that have led to barriers that inhibit the flourishing of these communities today. Both neighborhoods are characterized by overcrowded, multi-family homes, title 1 schools, and gang influenced areas.
Through this partnership of Solidarity and CIFT we will provide:
Deep growth has been happening as the women in this community have been given opportunities to move from survival mode towards thriving. Solidarity’s programs have provided space and time for them to begin to look inward and seek transformational change from past pains, stress, loss, and trauma. CIFT is honored to bring professional mental health services as the next step toward continued growth and healing.
CIFT’s hope is to help remove the many barriers that keep the members of this community from receiving mental health services (Money, transportation, language barrier, and a safe and trusted location) by bringing care directly to the community. CIFT will also offer individual therapy to the staff of Solidarity, who play a key role in supporting these neighborhoods.
We estimate that $30,000 will cover the first year as we begin to offer services and more fully understand the needs of the community. The more we raise, the more services we can offer.
