Dr. Shirley Liao is a licensed psychologist who received her master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology in Biola University. Shirley also obtained a master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis on marriage, family and children counseling from California State University, Fullerton. In addition, she has a certification in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from Newport Psychoanalytic Institute, where she was a Psy.D. candidate from 2013-2016. Shirley has also been trained in EMDR. Since 2008, Shirley has maintained a private practice in Tustin, working with individuals, families, and couples. Shirley has years of experiences working with adults who experienced trauma during childhood and who currently suffer from the effects of the past trauma (as manifested in symptoms of anxiety, depression, and complex trauma or in struggles with attachment, relationships, identity and/or spiritual issues). Shirley is also interested in clinical consultation, supervision and training, cultural/diversity issues, and enjoys discussing and speaking on topics such as grief/loss, effective parenting and mindfulness. Shirley is bilingual in English and Mandarin. Shirley is not currently taking new clients, but would conduct a brief phone consultation to properly refer clients to an appropriate therapist.
